Does lowering or rising the temperature of the thermostat make it blow colder or warmer air?

Updated: Mar 20, 2023

Hello reader, thanks for tuning in.

A regular question that we get often is the following: Does lowering or rising the temperature of the thermostat make it blow colder or warmer air?

Let me answer that question by explaining some basic operations of any HVAC equipment: Let's pretend there is a call for cooling because you set your thermostat to 60 degrees Fahrenheit, the system will start working and is going to run for ''x'' amount of hours until the thermostat gets to that previously set temperature.

In other words, lowering or rising the temperature to the max low or max high will not make the system blow colder or warmer air. It will only make the system run extra longer until the inside temperature setpoint is met. This is why the design of any HVAC system is so critical when building a property.
